Ankermake/Eufymake m5c - Often availible on FB Marketplace for 100 American dollars
FDM fused deposition modeling - spool based plastic that is melted and placed with a heated print head onto a model that is stuck to a heated print bed.
- Visible Layer Lines
- High strength parts
- cheap as hell
Resin - NOT THIS KIND OF PRINTER - Good at fine detail such as miniatures. Toxic as hell. Needs special care with venting and ofgassing. Much slower than FDM.
- X left and right
- Y depth
- Z - Height
Bed Slinger - heated bed that moves back and forth for the y axis. Can cause tall prints (z axis) to fail becaue they topple over.
Core XY - NOT THIS KIND - Has a gantry that moves all round to handle both x and y
PLA -Polylactic acid - will melt in high temp. Do Not leave it in the car. about 20 bucks for a 1kg spool(2.2 pounds). Prints are often hollow so it is very cost effective. The slicer tells you the cost.
STL - Stereolithography - 3d files
Gcode geometric code - gcode is extrusion speed, print head speed, bed speed and heat.
STL translates to GCODE in the slicer software.
Slicer is the software that communicates with the printer. It is the print driver. Also rudimentry 3d editing software.
Can add supports. Supports prevent failures and deforming but add cleanup steps, uses more filiment, takes more time.
all prints require cleanup.
- sandpaper
- needle files
- scalpel
Automotive spray filler primer
3d Gloop - Strong chemical bond. Not as strong as a single piece but still pretty good.
Super glue - Nice for quick parts that don’t need to hold any weight
UV Resin - Cures with UV light. The heart of a UV printer. Sands down to a nice finish. Pretty nasty fumes
Bondo Fiberglass Resin
