Insurance
Yearly LARP costs are about $600 for insurance, but they depend on a few factors: how many players there are and what kind of coverage you get.
Venues generally want you to have insurance. For many of them, it is a requirement to rent the space.
Site rental costs
What LARPs have done in the past is register as an Explorer Post to pose as a Boy Scout chapter or as a Girl Scout group to get access to these camps at a discounted rate. Some camps can only be rented by Boy Scout organizations, while others charge more if you are not a Boy Scout organization.
Some campsites charge per person rather than a flat rate for the site. NEVER RENT THESE SITES. You are incentivized to run a game with fewer NPCs and will run a worse game. You need to be able to have an abundance of NPCs and not lose your shirt.
City parks
$50 per event for a one-day pavilion.
Some pavilions require you to live in the area; otherwise, you need to pay more or cannot rent them.
State parks
Raccoon Creek State Park
$300 per event weekend.

- 10 players at $25 each = $250 total
- 20 players at $25 each = $500 total
- 20 players at $35 each = $700 total
Weekend events
- 10 players at $50 each = $500 total
- 20 players at $50 each = $1,000 total
- 40 players at $50 each = $2,000 total
- 50 players at $50 each = $2,500 total
- 60 players at $50 each = $3,000 total
Costs
- $1,000 for props, $500 for NPC stuff—food, mementos
- $300 camp, $150 insurance
You need two-thirds of the total players to be NPCs.
